Hurricane Irene Videos

Luckily, we were dealt only a glancing blow from Hurricane Irene today.  Aside from some good wind gusts and a little bit of rain, it hasn't been too bad.  This is a good example of what our morning looked like:

As with any good rainstorm, there are puddles left afterward that are just right for a couple of boys to enjoy.

Hurricane Irene

We fared much better inland than the NC coast did. We've had some rain bands and some pretty decent wind gusts come through, but nothing more than we usually experience during a thunderstorm.

We got out early this morning to take Sugar for a walk - and to work some energy out of the boys.  So far, the only large limb to come down in our yard missed the house by a couple of feet eary this morning.  The boys had a fun time dragging it around and pulling branches off of it - which they then used to sweep the streets during our walk (zig-zagging to stay out from under the tree limbs).

First Day of School

Today was Cooper's first day at kindergarten.  I'm proud to report that both he and his parents handled it very well.  Playing with old and new friends, our big guy paused only momentarily to give us high-fives as we left.  Providing perhaps a glimpse into our future, our eldest cruised through a 6 1/2 hour school day and still had energy for soccer practice after an early dinner.  What a day!

Wind In Your Face

All of the kids had a great time on Popi's boat - as usual :-)
As you can see, a boat, some wind and a little imagination make for a great ride.
